"Defiance of Silence – Frank Zappa was right; we have only a brief time to fill with art, music, or silence. But silence is often imposed—by fear, by doubt, by convention. To create is to resist that silence, to assert that something should exist simply because it can." Chat GPT
'Americana' Calendar Series - [Start at post #01 to understand the narrative for this series]
The Calendar Series - The 'concept of an idea' was to create 48 AI images on an 'Americana' theme for each month of the year, and for each quadrant of the US. That first required having Chat GPT describe in a paragraph the characteristics of each region and month.
"Describe in a vivid visual narrative single paragraph the Pacific NW seashore in January."
"The Pacific Northwest seashore in January is a hauntingly beautiful tableau of muted grays and deep greens, where the ocean meets the land in a perpetual dance of mist and foam. The sky hangs low, a heavy quilt of clouds that seems to press down on the jagged cliffs and windswept evergreens, their branches bowed under the weight of winter rains. The tide rolls in with a rhythmic roar, its cold, steel-gray waves crashing against the dark, barnacle-crusted rocks, sending up sprays of saltwater that mingle with the drizzle in the air. Driftwood logs, bleached pale by the elements, lie scattered along the shore like the bones of some ancient leviathan, while the occasional cry of a gull pierces the damp stillness, a lonely echo in the vast, brooding expanse. The air is thick with the scent of brine and damp earth, and the horizon blurs into an indistinct line where sea and sky merge, creating a world that feels both timeless and ephemeral, a place where the raw power of nature is palpable in every gust of wind and every crashing wave."
Now the eerily evocative part. I once built a lapstrake skiff, and used it to fish around the islands in SC Alaska. Later I memorialized by scrimshaw carving rare black soapstone with a sailing skiff. See that sailing skiff in the AI image? It matches my scrimshaw carving. I did not tell GPT to include it, nor any of the indigent salmon drying image that we used to do in Alaska. How did GPT know that? Within the following posts, we're going to document how ChatGPT can become collaborative to the point of 'mind reading' and one it gets to understand you (at your individual log-in and unique chat) Chat GPT will begin to tease and astound you. It's perfectly understandable to think it's 'sentient'.
